A Cairnwire field note
A clearer communications brief for the work that matters.
Use this practical worksheet to help a mission-driven organization or place name who it needs to reach, what it needs to make clear, and where the message should travel.
Begin with the people who need the message.
A shared brief makes the next decision easier to see.

Start with the questions underneath the message.
The brief is intentionally open-ended. It gives a team a shared place to think, make choices, and identify what still needs a closer read.
It also prompts for context, voice and accessibility, owners, timing, measures, and next steps.
Name the people, groups, partners, or communities you most need to reach or understand.
Describe what you want to make clearer, possible, or easier to act on through communication.
Find the core idea, supporting points, and proof or context that can help the idea hold together.
Choose the places and touchpoints where the right people are most likely to encounter the work.
